Ian Pearce is a seasoned mining executive and corporate director with more than 40 years of global experience spanning metallurgy, operations, project development, and technology-driven innovation.
He currently serves as Chair of MineSense Technologies and Lilac Solutions, and as Senior Advisor to KoBold Metals. He is also Chair and Non-Executive Director at Northland Power and a Non-Executive Director at NextSource Materials, where he chairs the Sustainability Committee. He previously held board and chair roles at New Gold, Nevsun Resources, Metso, and Nexa Resources, and served as President of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (2024–25).
Earlier in his career, Ian was Chief Executive of Xstrata Nickel and held senior operating and leadership roles at Noranda/Falconbridge, and Fluor. He later became a partner at X2 Resources, focusing on responsible project development and value creation across the mining sector.
Ian has long contributed to industry leadership as Chair of the Mining Association of Canada, Chair and Director of the Nickel Institute, and through advisory roles across organizations dedicated to sustainability, innovation, and workforce development.
He holds an Engineering HND from the University of Johannesburg, a BSc from the University of the Witwatersrand, and management training from Wits and Henley College (UK).
